Dr. Erez Podoly is an Entrepreneur-in-Residence with Artiman. Erez focuses on companion diagnostic discovery and development of Point-of-Care Testing(POCT).
Dr. Erez is the founder and CEO of AcheroMetrics Ltd., which was incorporated in Israel in 2011. AcheroMetrics develops non-invasive novel technology for real-time pain monitoring.
Erez is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University, pursuing advanced nanotechnology research and developing imaging technologies for electron microscopy to study chromatin structure at a Nobel laureate laboratory.
Dr. Erez Podoly is a chemist by training; M.Sc. in Biochemistry; Ph.D. in Neurobiology and a co-author of many peer-reviewed papers and book chapters. His Ph.D. studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI) focused on Alzheimer’s disease. He designed a blocker for the neurotoxic effects of the beta-amyloid peptide. For this work, He was awarded the Kaye Innovations Prize, the Israeli Ministry of Science Eshkol Ph.D. fellowship and five other excellence scholarships. While in Jerusalem, Erez was the assistant executive director of BioJerusalem, and contributed to an increase in employment opportunities and a rise of new biotech companies in the city. During his M.Sc. studies (magna cum laude), he became acquainted with aspects of cancer research through working on the restoration of oncogenic proteins by small molecules. Throughout his studies, he worked as a research associate at a HUJI core facility, developing novel products for the biotechnology industry and academic researchers.
