Rujie Yin is currently a Ph.D student at Duke University, pursuing research lying between image analysis, machine learning and data mining. Rujie received her B.S in Mathematics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University with focus on image processing. For her Ph.D. studies at Duke, she is working under the guidance of Prof. Professor Ingrid Daubechies and she is involved in several art related projects. As a part of her research work she has developed a digital cradle removal algorithm. This project gets grant from Kress Foundation for deploying the algorithm into a Photoshop plugin. The paper on cradle removal is in Top 10% of the IEEE ICIP (International Conference of Image Processing) 2014 in Paris. Rujie also traveled to Spain and Amsterdam to build connection with art conservators at Prado Museum and Rijks Museum. Thanks to the art projects, Rujie developed friendship with several artists and was a babysitter of her artist friends during her trip to Europe in 2014.
