Ali Athar invented a novel stored blood quality diagnostic to measure specific physiological qualities of stored blood and developed algorithms to quantify blood quality in one single biometric. While doing this work he served as a product development engineer for the Blood Quality Diagnostics project at the Cabrales Bioengineering Lab at UC San Diego. He has also researched synthetic biology to express therapeutic proteins and produce biofuels in the Mayfield Lab at UC San Diego.
Ali received his B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from University of California, San Diego.
